Joanne joined Social Finance in March 2021 as the IPS Grow Regional Lead for the East of England and has been supporting people into employment for the past 3 years within the West Midlands. Having studied a Masters degree in Psychological Trauma, Joanne went on to lecture in the field at The University of Chester educating professors, doctors and other medical students in areas such as PTSD, Secondary Traumatic Stress and Therapeutic Practice with a specialist background in Military Combat PTSD.
In her most recent role, Joanne set up the very first Veteran IPS Service integrated within The Royal British Legion supporting military personnel into civilian jobs whilst at the same time, assisting their transition from military to civilian life. This service was recognised by The Armed Forces Covenant and Ministry of Defence and went on to win awards in the Covenant over 3 consecutive years.
Joanne’s passion lies within educating people and sharing good practice around mental health and the equality and equity that should fall around it. She hopes that her background in mental health can assist the IPS Grow Team along with the partnering trusts to achieve this.
Outside of work, Joanne enjoys spending time with her family which includes her partner, a 7.5 stone Akita cross Retriever, and their little boy who can be classed as their “Pandemic Baby” given he was born in July 2020! In the past, Joanne has been part of several charity fundraiser events including an attempt at Ben Nevis, 8km races and a skydive, although; Joanne has confirmed she definitely prefers events where her feet are firmly on the ground!
