Role

The Employment Specialist, also referred to as an Employment Advisor in this context, plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with mental health, drug, or alcohol challenges in their journey towards employment, education, or training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive, individualised support to service users
  • Develop vocational profiles and action plans tailored to each client’s needs and aspirations
  • Offer career advice and guidance
  • Assist with CV enhancement and interview techniques
  • Conduct job searches and engage with local employers
  • Provide ongoing in-work support to both employees and employers
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, particularly talking therapies services
  • Offer support letters and advocate for clients when necessary
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to service evaluation

The person

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Experience or understanding of working with people with mental health support needs or substance use challenges
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Empathy and passion for supporting individuals in their recovery journey
  • Knowledge of employment practices and local job markets
