Role
As an IPS Employment Specialist, you will deliver personalised employment support to individuals accessing treatment and recovery services. Working within the evidence-based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, you will help people identify their strengths, career aspirations, and employment goals while supporting them to secure and sustain meaningful paid work.
You will work closely with treatment teams, employers, and external organisations to ensure employment is embedded within a person’s wider recovery journey.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of individuals looking to move into paid employment
- Deliver employment support in line with IPS principles and fidelity standards
- Complete vocational profiling and develop tailored action plans
- Support individuals with CVs, job searching, applications, interview preparation, and career development
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local employers and training providers
- Identify suitable employment opportunities aligned to individual preferences and strengths
- Provide ongoing in-work support to both employers and individuals to sustain employment outcomes
- Promote employment as a positive part of recovery within multidisciplinary and treatment teams
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies and community organisations
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service monitoring and reporting requirements

- Experience supporting individuals facing barriers to employment
- Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with a range of people
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to motivate and support individuals on a one-to-one basis
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage competing demands
- Passion for supporting people to achieve meaningful outcomes
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and person-centred practice.
- Knowledge or understanding of the IPS model
- Experience working within employability, health, social care, substance use, or recovery services
- Experience engaging with employers and community organisations
- Understanding of barriers experienced by individuals accessing treatment or recovery services
