The Council’s Individual Placement & Support (IPS) Team aims to increase the number of people moving into employment from specialist community health services. IPS is a highly personalised programme, featuring significant employer engagement, in-work support as well as pre-employment support and intervention designed to support people into jobs at whichever stage of their recovery journey they are at. The distinguishing feature of IPS is that employment support is provided alongside treatment by integrating an employment specialist within the drug and alcohol treatment service as an equal member of the multi-disciplinary team.

Role

To manage a team of Personal Advisers providing supervision, training, caseload management and delivering positive outcomes for service users through the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach; to manage a small caseload of clients in structured treatment for drugs and/or alcohol to secure sustainable paid employment

Responsibilities

  1. To manage and develop a team, setting work objectives and guiding them individually on best practice and achieving individual and team job outcome targets, particularly in relation to building relationships with colleagues in clinical teams, employers and external agencies
  2. To ensure that team are supported, enabled and equipped to deliver an effective and responsive service that adheres to the principles of IPS best practice, motivating and coaching staff through the completion of monthly supervisions and identification of training and development needs
  3. To produce regular monitoring reports for internal and external stakeholders, monitoring programme budgets and recommending and implementing improvements to service delivery
  4. To manage a small caseload of clients in structured treatment for substance use who are motivated to start/return to work, establishing and maintaining relationships, understanding their key skills, aspirations and goals and provide advice, guidance and support to aid realistic progression.
  5. To develop, implement and review client action plans to help them obtain and sustain competitive employment and monitor and evidence progress against preemployment and post-employment action plans through regular reviews
  6. To ensure quality assurance around client satisfaction, enabling clients to have facility to provide feedback on the service and involving them in co-production of service developments where possible
  7. To establish and maintain employer relationships to help source job opportunities, providing education and support (as agreed with client) which may include negotiating adjustments, return to work strategy and ongoing contact with employer to aid job retention
  8. To establish and maintain relationships with colleagues in clinical teams and external agencies to provide a cohesive referral and support network for clients
  9. To maintain and develop own resources, knowledge (particularly about substance misuse, mental health conditions and vocational rehabilitation), skills, competence and partake in continuous professional development
  10. To accurately complete required documentation, reports and data returns, evidence target outcomes and adhere to information governance/data sharing in line with service standards and funding requirements.
  11. To recognise and identify any safeguarding concerns or issues (including welfare or mental health needs or domestic violence), provide practical support and escalate appropriately.
  12. To comply with review and inspection processes to ensure quality standards and continuation of funding.
  13. To ensure implementation of policies and procedures as required
  14. Undertake any duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade and level if responsibility of the post
